Minion Skateboards will be making some changes in the coming days that we are excited about some that will be announced and some that will not. But here are a few of the changes that will be coming up.
---------------------
Beginning in June
Every skateboard sale we make online or to a retailer we will plant a tree in our city or other cities to help aid in the tree replant efforts.
Four dollars from every skateboard purchase will go to help aid our efforts to build more skate parks in cities all over the world.
We will begin major fund raising efforts to help Minion Skateparks Fund build more parks all over the world you will be able to be a part of it.
Beginning in July
Camp Minion will begin enrollment. This camp is for serious skaters only and will be for two weeks nothing but skating.
Minion Days will begin its final stages of development. This will be a five city event with a total of $100,000.00 being given away as prizes. This will be one of the largest events in the south for amateur skateboarding. WE HOPE that is.
---------------------
In other events we have been fighting with the idea of our store currently http://www.minionstore.com/ for some time now in terms of keeping it or stopping it. We have never been comfortable selling our skateboards online for many reasons but the main reason is we know how important the relationship with your local skate shop is. When you buy from your local store you not only get the great advice of people that have been skating for years (if you don't have a shop in your area that is skater owned LEAVE) that can help and guide you to the right equipment but you also get your first taste of what skating is all about. It helps your local city by providing tax revenue and in return you are able to support many local parks as many skate shops donate to the parks in their area for updates and maintenance and so on.
So what we have decided to do is for every retail store that supports us we will donate our entire online sales to the city with the most support. Now this may sound like a bribe and I guess in a way it is but Minion Skateboards does not want to sell online never has wanted to we would rather keep everything the way it was meant to be by selling in shops. Believe us or not this is what we want. So for every dollar made online through our online sales we will donate all that money to the store that supports us by ordering from us. Translation if you own a store in New York City and you order from us on a regular basis and no other store supports our efforts and we sale $500.00 online then we will give the store in New York city the $500.00 we earned from selling online. It is our way of helping the industry by using technologies that others look down on turning it into a positive and we will continue to do this by rewarding the store that supports us the most every month. The goal is to eventually make it to where our online sales no longer exist and get into more retail spots as WE HATE SELLING ONLINE but at the moment we have no other choice.
TONS MORE NEWS COMING SOON! Stay tuned by following us on twitter, shred or die, and the berrics!
